Mental Health First Aid: 1 Day Course
This Mental Health First Aid course focuses on giving people the skills and knowledge to identify, understand and effectively help someone who may be experiencing mental ill health in the workplace and wider community.
Intended Audience:
Mental Health First Aid training is not designed to teach you how to be a therapist, but it will teach you to recognise the most common issues people face with mental ill health and teach you how to listen, reassure and actively support those who are struggling.
Mental Health First Aiders will be able to:

Recognise signs and symptoms of many common mental health issues

Direct anyone with potential mental ill health to appropriate and reliable support, both within the workplace and externally

Actively listen and feel confident having open conversations about mental health with those who may be suffering

Be a confident mental health advocate within the workplace
Course Overview:
Through a mix of presentation, discussions, self-reflection and group activities, completion of the one day MHFA course, delivered by a quality assured and accredited trainer. This course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider giving you:

An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing

Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues

Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress

Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening

Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix
Each learner will receive a First Aid for Mental Health guide manual with the course enrolment.
Assessment
The qualification is assessed through both a practical demonstration of the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and a multiple-choice question paper. A Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.
Numbers
A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 14 years of age to qualify.
Location
We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises, reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling.
We are able to offer training at our training venue. This would incur an additional hire cost.

FAA Level 2 Certificate Award in First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) (3 Year qualification)

Mental Health First Aid Refresher: 4 hours
You've completed the Mental Health First Aid or MHFA Champion course - practice your skills and keep your knowledge up to date.

Network with other MHFAider's and Champions - share your experiences with like minded delegates.
Course Overview:
The course is a four hour refresher session for those who have completed the MHFA two or one day course. Just like physical first aid, we recommend you refresh your skills yearly.
MHFA one day courses are valid for three years. If it's more than three years since you completed your initial course, it's time to update your training.
The session is delivered through a mix of group activities, presentation and discussion.

You will receive a certificate of attendance to confirm.
